Dry spell is temporarily over, as Konami's new 16-bit-style Gradius Rebirth is released today in the US. No review yet, details here. Cave Story is on it's way too, lots of fun there. Time to redeem some Wii Points.

Gamer Weekend

Hey all its looking weather wise to be a great weekend to sit around on live. I'm thinking Saturday night we try to have a clan night and play castle crashers start to finish. Hope to see you there.

Castle crashing

I bought Castle Crashers two nights ago and have been mashing buttons fervently since. Mike talked about getting some four-way crashing action sometime next week if anyone is interested. I need to get a new headset over the weekend because my cousin sucked my headset cord into the vacuum cleaner and rendered it inoperable.

Pre-Ordered RE5 on Amazon, $56.99/free ship. They have been doing day & date shipping since Madden, so we'll see. If anyone wants the Art Cell from Gamestop, Code TRICELL gets you free overnight shipping ($10 value there). What do you think of the investment potential of the CEdition? I don't think I want the stuff and think bag/figure/necklace a little lame instead of Japanese flash drive, but it's $10 cheaper then retail at DD and I am considering grabbing one for resale. Wish I could figure out how limited Capcom's Collector's Editions are. I imagine they made a lot for this game.

What I'm seeing as I'm up too early:

• SlickDeals saw a $50 Futurama complete TV box set with Tshirt at Costco. Anyone have a Costco card? I'd love to have one of these and it's a retarded deal.
  
• CAG reporting Walmart has a new cardboard block of DS titles (35 in all) including Puzzlequest & Chessmaster for $10/ea, both great titles/gift choices.
• Big Lots ad starting 1/14 is showing DVDs as 4/$10, ad shows HBO titles/stand-up. I assume this applies to all regular $3 DVDs, time to stock up!
• DeepDiscount.com has RE5 Collector's Ed for cheap, but worth their slow shipping? Hope Amazon does day & date ship! Who's going to a store for this game? Pre-order deals would be nice...I need to set aside the case. March is coming.
  
• NewEgg.com still has Dark Sector new for $10. Anyone play it? Like Gears with a Frisbee. Demo kicked much ass. Might be at Blockbuster B1g1 1/2 Off.
  
• Castlevania III is finally on Virtual Console, you can be a pirate ninja, nuff said. Super Punch-Out just got rated for release too.
  

We need a clan game night of some sort. Open to suggestions. What's everyone playing this week? I'm doing achievements in REZ HD, as I'm cool like that.

Thought it'd be fun to look back on a great year for games. This was the year that the low-price download game became the centerpiece of gaming with Castle Crashers, World of Goo, Braid, etc. Long live the indies.
